How to Choose a Binding Machine

Spiral binding
Uses a continuous plastic coil. Pages turn a full 360 degrees and lie flat, which suits reports, manuals and anything read while open on a desk.
Wire binding
Uses a double-loop metal wire for a more formal, professional finish. Commonly chosen for presentations, proposals and printed reports where appearance matters.
Comb binding
Uses a plastic comb that can be reopened, so pages can be added or removed later. Suited to documents that are updated periodically.
Punching capacity
How many sheets the machine punches in one pass. Under-specifying this is the most common cause of slow work and premature wear on machines used daily.
Binding capacity
The maximum document thickness the machine can bind, which determines the largest report you can produce in one volume.
Manual vs electric
Manual machines are economical for occasional use. Electric punching reduces operator effort where binding is a daily task.
